Stephen Trilling, Vice President, Security Technology and Response, Symantec Corporation
Stephen Trilling is vice president of Symantec’s Security Technology and Response organization. In this role, he oversees R&D of all security technologies and security content for the company. Trilling’s global division provides the underlying functionality and support for all of Symantec’s security products across the corporate and consumer spaces. These businesses generate roughly have of the company’s revenues.
Prior to his current role, Trilling was the founder and vice president of Symantec Research Labs, the company’s advanced research division. Mr. Trilling oversaw all technology research activities across Symantec’s business areas, as well as advanced development in emerging technology areas. During his tenure at Symantec Research Labs, the team researched and helped to commercialize numerous new technologies which now impact hundreds of millions of Symantec customers.
Prior to this role, Mr. Trilling oversaw development and delivery of the company’s first corporate client security product. Since Mr. Trilling’s initial release, Symantec’s corporate client security solution has become the gold standard in enterprise desktop and server protection.
Mr. Trilling has appeared on numerous national television and radio programs, has been quoted extensively in the global press and also speaks regularly at conferences and seminars throughout the world. In addition, he has published a number of papers on security-related issues and testified before the United States Congress.
Trilling holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from Yale University and an M.S. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

John W. Thompson, Chairman of the Board and CEO, Symantec Corporation
John W. Thompson is chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer of Symantec Corporation. Under Thompson’s leadership, Symantec has grown from a small consumer software publisher to a global leader in infrastructure software, enabling businesses and consumers to have confidence in a connected world.
Thompson and his team have grown the company by building new solutions internally, making strategic acquisitions and establishing relationships with key technology partners. With global operations in 40 countries, the company helps customers protect their infrastructure, information and interactions by delivering software and services that address risks to security, availability, compliance and performance.
In September 2002, President George W. Bush appointed Thompson to the National Infrastructure Advisory Committee (NIAC), to make recommendations regarding the security of the critical infrastructure of the United States. In addition, Thompson has served as the chair of the Silicon Valley Blue Ribbon Task Force on Aviation Security and Technology to identify and evaluate technology-driven solutions to improve the security and efficiency of national and local aviation.
Prior to joining Symantec, Thompson had a distinguished career with the IBM Corporation where he held senior executive positions in sales, marketing and software development. In his last assignment, he was general manager of IBM Americas and a member of the company’s Worldwide Management Council.
He is a member of the board of directors of UPS, Seagate and Teach for America. Thompson also serves as the chairman of the board for the Cyber Security Industry Alliance, the only advocacy group dedicated exclusively to ensuring the privacy, reliability and integrity of information systems through public policy, technology, education and awareness. He completed his undergraduate studies at Florida A&M University and holds a master’s degree in management science from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.

Enrique Salem, Chief Operating Officer, Symantec Corporation
Enrique Salem serves as chief operating officer, with responsibility for global product development, sales, marketing and IT.
Most recently, Salem served as group president, Worldwide Sales and Marketing, and managed global sales and partner programs, marketing, communications and branding. Previously, Salem was group president, Consumer Business Unit, with responsibility for the overall consumer business worldwide. In this role, Salem was responsible for engineering, sales, alliances, marketing, public relations and customer care.
Prior to that, Salem was Symantec’s senior vice president of Security Products and Solutions, leading Symantec's security product group including both enterprise and consumer. Before that, he led the Network and Gateway Security Solutions group.
Before joining Symantec, Salem was president and CEO of Brightmail, the leading anti-spam software that was successfully acquired by Symantec in 2004. Before Brightmail, he served as senior vice president of products and technology at Oblix Inc., where he spearheaded corporate strategy and development by leading the company's engineering, product management, and technology groups. Before Oblix, he was vice president of technology and operations at Ask Jeeves Inc., where he was responsible for the engineering group and the company's entire IT operation. Prior to that, he led the security business unit at Symantec, helping to grow the unit's revenue from $200 million to $460 million over a three year period.
Earlier in his career, Salem was a vice president at Security Pacific Merchant Bank, where he led projects for the development of real-time trading systems.
Salem received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Dartmouth College. He was named 2007 Corporate Executive of the Year by Hispanic Net as well as 2004 Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst and Young.

Mark Bregman, Executive Vice President, Chief Technology Officer, Symantec Corporation
Mark Bregman is the executive vice president, chief technology officer of Symantec, responsible for the Symantec Research Labs, emerging technologies, architecture and standards, and developing the technology strategy for the company. He also guides Symantec’s investments in advanced research and is responsible for the development centers in India and China.
In addition, Mark leads the field technical enablement team, which works closely with the technical sales team to ensure they are prepared to assist customers in managing the impact of changing and emerging technical requirements.
Bregman joined Symantec through the company’s merger with VERITAS Software. At VERITAS, Bregman served as chief technology officer, responsible for cross-product integration, advanced product development, merger and acquisition strategy, and the company's engineering development centers in Pune, India and Beijing, China. He also served as VERITAS’ executive vice president in charge of product operations since joining the company in 2002.
Prior to joining VERITAS, Bregman was CEO of Airmedia, a wireless Internet firm.
Previously, Bregman spent 16 years at IBM where he led the RS/6000 and Pervasive Computing divisions and held senior management positions in IBM Research and IBM Japan. He was also technical assistant to IBM CEO Lou Gerstner.
Bregman holds a bachelor's degree in physics from Harvard College and a master's degree and doctorate in physics from Columbia University. He also serves on the Board of Overseers of Fermi National Accelerator Lab. He is a member of the Visiting Committee to the Harvard University Libraries, a member of the American Physical Society, and a senior member of IEEE.

Darren Thomas, Vice President Storage Business Product Group, Dell
Darren Thomas is Vice President and General Manager of Dell’s multi-billion dollar enterprise storage and networking businesses. He is responsible for all aspects of Dell’s storage and networking businesses, including product development, marketing and strategic partnerships. Under Mr. Thomas' leadership, Dell's storage business has significantly expanded its product line and has become the leader in ISCSI SAN storage worldwide, number four in overall Storage, and the fastest growing storage business amongst all tier one storage companies.
Mr. Thomas brings extensive storage industry experience to Dell. He spent 15 years with Compaq Computer Corporation where he founded the company’s enterprise storage business and led the creation of Compaq’s external storage division. While at Compaq, Mr. Thomas played a key role in the merger with Digital Equipment Corporation, which positioned Compaq as the leader in the storage area network (SAN) segment. Prior to coming to Dell, Mr. Thomas was president and CEO of Zambeel, an emerging enterprise storage company located in Silicon Valley.
A strong supporter of industry standards, Mr. Thomas was instrumental in founding the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA). He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Memphis University in Memphis, Tennessee, and is a former officer and pilot in the U.S. Air Force.

As Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Sun, Greg Papadopoulos directs the company's approximate $2B in R&D portfolio with an eye toward innovation, simplicity, and eco-responsibility. With more than 20 years experience in the technology industry, Papadopoulos is responsible for managing Sun's technology decisions and architecture. His team leads Sun Labs, the DARPA High Performance Computing Systems program, global engineering architecture and advanced development programs.
Passionate about technology and its possibilities, Papadopoulos supports open development models that stimulate communication, creativity and innovation, which he promotes through his blog, Greg Matter, as well as numerous speaking engagements.
During his tenure with Sun, Papadopoulos has held several positions, including vice president of technology and advanced development for the company's systems business, chief scientist for server systems engineering, and chief scientist for enterprise servers and storage.
Before joining Sun in 1994, Papadopoulos was senior architect and director of product strategy for Thinking Machines, where he led the design of the CM6 massively parallel supercomputer.
Papadopoulos was an associate professor of electrical engineering and computer science at MIT, where he conducted research in scalable systems, multi threaded/data flow processor architecture, functional and declarative languages, and fault-tolerant computing. Papadopoulos also worked as a development engineer at Hewlett-Packard and Honeywell, where he designed flight-control systems for Boeing jetliners. He co-founded three companies: PictureTel (video conferencing), Ergo (high-end PCs) and Exa Corporation (computational fluid dynamics).
Papadopoulos participates in several associations, including serving as chairman of the board for the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI), as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology, and as a member of the President's Board on Science and Innovation at the University of California. Greg acts as a technical advisor for BP and Alien Technologies.
He holds a bachelor's degree in systems science from the University of California at San Diego, as well as master's and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT.

Ken Berryman, Vice President Endpoint Virtualization, Symantec Corporation
Ken Berryman is responsible for driving Symantec’s overall endpoint virtualization business, including application and desktop virtualization solutions and the Software Virtualization Solution product line .
Berryman most recently led the product development for the NetBackup Product Platform, within the Data Center Management Group at Symantec and was responsible for the NetBackup, PureDisk, and Backup Reporter product lines.
Berryman joined Symantec from McKinsey & Company, where he was a partner in the Silicon Valley Office. At McKinsey, he led the North American Software Practice, and was a well-known speaker at events such as Software and Enterprise 2007, SoftSummit, and SIAA’s Enterprise conferences. Berryman served clients across the high tech industry on a range of topics including strategy, operations, and sales effectiveness.
Berryman holds both a master’s and doctorate in physics from Stanford University as well as a bachelor’s in physics from Harvard University.

Francis deSouza, Senior Vice President Enterprise Messaging Management, Symantec Corporation
Francis deSouza - Senior Vice President of the Information Foundation, Compliance and Security Management Group at Symantec, where he oversees the development and integration of the group’s key technologies and products into a unified messaging management platform for securing and managing all enterprise communications.
Mr. deSouza joined Symantec through the company's acquisition of IMlogic in February 2006. At IMlogic, he was founder and chief executive officer, building the company into a recognized leader in the rapidly growing market for instant messaging security with more than 750 customers across 23 countries .
Prior to IMlogic, Mr. deSouza served as product unit manager at Microsoft, directing a team in the development of the enterprise real-time communications platform, including instant messaging, chat, Voice over IP and NetMeeting. Previously, he founded Flash Communications, which quickly emerged as a leader in the corporate instant messaging space and was acquired by Microsoft in 1998.
Mr. deSouza graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Brad Kingsbury, Senior Vice President Endpoint Group, Symantec Corporation
Brad Kingsbury is the Senior Vice President of Symantec's Endpoint Security and Management group. Previously, Mr. Kingsbury was the Vice President of the Endpoint Security and Messaging Security businesses, since joining Symantec due to the acquisition of Brightmail in 2004.
At Brightmail, Mr. Kingsbury was the Vice President of Engineering since November 2002. From November 2001 to October 2002, Mr. Kingsbury was Vice President of Engineering and Chief Technical Officer of McAfee.com Corporation (which was acquired by Network Associates, Inc.), an Internet security company. From October 1997 to September 2001, Mr. Kingsbury was self-employed as a consultant to a number of security and storage management software companies, including Veritas and Symantec. From April 1996 to September 1997, Mr. Kingsbury served as the Vice President of Engineering and the Chief Technical Officer for CyberMedia Corporation (also acquired by Network Associates), an Internet security and productivity company. From July 1985 to April 1996, Mr. Kingsbury served as Chief Technologist at Symantec Corporation. Mr. Kingsbury was Peter Norton's first programmer in 1985 and was the sole designer and developer of the Norton Utilities from 1985 until 1989.
Mr. Kingsbury received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from California State University, Northridge.

Deepak Mohan, Senior Vice President Data Protection Group, Symantec Corporation
Deepak Mohan is senior vice president of the Data Protection Group at Symantec Corporation. He is responsible for the strategy, development and delivery of Symantec’s data protection products, including Veritas NetBackup, PureDisk, Symantec Backup Exec and Backup Exec System Recovery. These market-leading products ensure successful backup and recovery of information and systems for organizations ranging from small business to large enterprise. The goal of the Data Protection Group is to deliver products that provide data protection and system availability for Symantec customers by using the latest disk, tape, deduplication, indexing and virtual technologies.
Mohan previously served as vice president of the Symantec Backup Exec product group, where he led the engineering and product management teams to successfully launch Backup Exec 12 for Windows Servers – the gold standard in Windows data protection – and Backup Exec System Recovery 8.0 in February 2008.
Prior to joining Symantec, Mohan held senior level engineering management positions with Veritas Software, Seagate Software, Query Object Systems, Computer Associates and Cheyenne Software. He has more than 20 years of experience in the software industry.
Mohan holds a master's degree in Computer Science from New York University and a bachelor's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. India. He holds two patents in the data protection space.

Rob Soderbery, Senior Vice President Storage Foundation Group, Symantec Corporation
Rob Soderbery is senior vice president of the Storage and Availability Management Group at Symantec Corporation and oversees product management, engineering and delivery. He brings to this role 20 years of experience in product development, business leadership and entrepreneurial success. Rob is active with customers in ensuring the world’s mission critical IT infrastructure and largest data centers are successfully managed using storage and availability solutions from Symantec.
Key products in the Storage and Availability Management Group include Veritas Storage Foundation, Veritas CommandCentral Storage and Veritas Cluster Server product lines. Each of these solutions is available across all major UNIX, Linux and Windows operating systems, enabling IT organizations to reduce cost and complexity through standardization on storage and availability management solutions from Symantec.
Soderbery joined Symantec through the company's merger with Veritas Software, which he joined in 2000. Rob held a wide variety of executive roles at Veritas. Most recently he was vice president of Product Management for the data center solutions where he shaped the evolution of the product roadmap and go-to-market execution for the company. Rob was previously vice president of Strategic Alliances, where he executed hundreds of transactions with ISVs, IHVs and channel partners.
Prior to his roles with Veritas he was an entrepreneur in the semiconductor industry, with two successful startups to his credit as a founder and early employee. He spent a number of years working with partners in the Asia Pacific region and a variety of product marketing and management roles.
Rob’s technical background includes a stint as an ASIC developer at TRW. Rob holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Caltech and a Master of Science in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
